HEDIS® is part of a nationally recognized quality improvement initiative developed and managed by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Medicaid quality measure rates are used by DSS to monitor the performance of the ASO and to identify opportunities to improve the HUSKY Health program. Medical record requests were distributed at the beginning of February 2026. If you have not yet submitted the requested records, please do so as soon as possible.
CHNCT has resources available on the HUSKY Health provider website to assist your practice with improving health measure rates. The Health Measures page provides general information about HEDIS® and the quality measures. Please visit the Reports & Resources page for additional information. You can gain access to more resources by accessing the HUSKY Health Secure Provider Portal where you will find HEDIS® TIPS (To Improve Performance Sheet) sheets and reports developed specific to your practice and the HUSKY Health members you treat.
Should you have any questions about HEDIS® or how to submit medical records, you can call the Quality Management department at 1.866.317.3301 or email quality@chnct.org.

Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®) Survey
The Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®)1 survey is a tool used to assess members’ perception of the care they received by their providers and health plan. The CAHPS® program is overseen by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and administered by NCQA. . . read more
NCQA includes the CAHPS® Health Plan Surveys in its annual HEDIS® specifications; acknowledging that member experience affects care outcomes, which is a critical component of healthcare quality and equity.
In January, a random sample of HUSKY Health members was selected by the NCQA certified CAHPS® vendor to participate in the CAHPS® Health Plan Survey 5.1H, Adult Questionnaire (Medicaid) and/or the CAHPS® Health Plan Survey 5.1H, Child Questionnaire (With Children with Chronic Conditions [CCC] measure). CHNCT and DSS review the survey results annually to enhance the HUSKY Health program. Representation from diversified populations promotes a comprehensive evaluation of the responses received, allowing us to identify opportunities that promote quality healthcare that is equitable for all members. Please encourage your HUSKY Health patients to complete the survey if they are selected.

Lead Survey Results
CHNCT has been focusing efforts on improving lead screening in young HUSKY Health members. In August 2025, a seven-question online survey was offered by CHNCT to parents/guardians of children who turned two years old in 2024. . . read more
The goals of the survey were to assess lead screening status and parent/guardian understanding of lead screening, and to identify any barriers to obtaining lead screening. There were 211 total survey respondents with 105 surveys completed (respondents answered at least five out of the seven questions).
Results
- Fifty-seven percent indicated their child’s Primary Care Provider (PCP) offered lead testing.
- Of those offered lead testing by their PCP, 53% indicated their child was tested for lead, 19% said they were unsure if their child was tested for lead.
- Fifty-six percent indicated their child was tested for lead because of a PCP recommendation.
- For those who indicated that their child was not tested for lead, 73% indicated it was not offered by their child’s PCP.
- When asked if their child’s PCP offered information about lead testing or lead poisoning, 53% responded yes.
Key Takeaways
- Offering and educating about lead testing and lead poisoning improves compliance.
- Survey respondents who indicated they were unsure if lead testing was done or offered would benefit from additional information/guidance during PCP appointments.
CHNCT conducts an annual email campaign to parents/guardians of members who do not have a lead test in claims prior to their second birthday. The messaging educates them on the importance of lead testing before their child turns two years old and includes Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) resources to learn more about lead poisoning prevention.
Lead testing in children is a mandatory requirement in Connecticut. Guidance for medical providers can be found here.
