The Department of Social Services (DSS) is monitoring the situation. DSS expects to have Medicaid funding through the first part of 2026. We don’t expect changes to benefits or services in October, including SNAP. Government programs could be affected if the shutdown lasts more than a few weeks. We'll use leftover 2025 federal funds to keep funded programs going at the start of 2026. If new federal funding isn't approved, there may be issues later this fall. This could delay benefit payments, running programs, or paying service providers. We'll keep you updated as we learn more.
Do you practice in a rural area of Connecticut? If you have recommendations on how to improve access to quality healthcare, the Department of Social Services (DSS) wants to hear from you. Working with other state agencies, DSS is applying for funding for a Rural Health Transformation Program. To help them understand your experiences, please provide your input by October 3rd by filling out this form on the DSS website. More information about the program is available here.
